This World Environment Day, Panasonic India Culminates Harit Umang Olympiad By Felicitating Green Ambassadors

To mark World Environment Day, Panasonic India - a leading diversified technology company, culminated its Harit Umang Olympiad – a school awareness program and felicitated over 100 students across 26 schools for their exemplary work in the field of responsible disposal of e-waste , plastic waste management, energy conservation and tree plantation.



Under the Harit Umang Olympiad, Panasonic India reached out to over 347 schools to create awareness and sensitization towards environmental issues related to E-waste, Plastic Waste Management, Energy Conservation and encourage Tree Plantation. The Olympiad entailed a series of knowledge sharing sessions by the experts, interactive workshops and engaging contests to nurture the habit of green practices amongst students.

 



Reflecting on each of the themes, the felicitation was addressed by Guest of Honour  Mr. Sandip Chatterjee, Director/ Scientist (F), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITY); Mr. Saurabh Diddi, Director, Bureau of Energy Efficiency; Ms Priti Mahesh, Toxics Link; Ms. Sahaana Sankar, Vice President, Hand in Hand India; Mr N. Krishnan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Hand in Hand India; Mr. Manish Sharma, President & CEO, Panasonic India and South Asia and Ms. Ritu Ghosh, Associate Director, Corporate Affairs & CSR, Panasonic India.



 

As part of the ‘Harit Umang’ - Joy of Green, Bio-diversity program focusing towards environment conservation, Panasonic India in collaboration with Hand in Hand India, planted 1 lakh tree saplings with the support of over 1700 rural farmers, 122 Gram Panchayats and schools in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and NCR region.
