Curved edge smartphone
displays used to be exclusive to Samsung at the start but now they are more
common and we do see these swanky screens on phones from many other
manufacturers. A Good screen has become an important feature on flagships from
several manufacturers, including OPPO, OnePlus and Huawei. So with that in
mind, we take a look at the best phones with curved displays.
OPPO
The OPPO Reno4 Pro
comes with 3D Curved Borderless Sense Screen with a 6.5-inch curved E3 Super
AMOLED screen and resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The breath-taking single
punch-hole display combined with a screen-to-body ratio of 92.01 percent
ensures a seamless viewing experience, making the phone ideal for content
creation as well as content consumption. The Reno4 Pro with its 3D Curved
Borderless Sense Screen offers among the best viewing experience on a
smartphone.
OPPO Find X2 Pro and Find X2
Second generation of
Find X phones have no sliders or moving part. These are still powerful and
pricey flagships, but they aren’t particularly distinct from numerous other SD
865 phones with curved displays. Both the Find X2 Pro and Find X2 have the same
screen – 6.67-inches, curved edges, AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR 10+
compliant. The Pro variant has a periscope telephoto lens and higher
water-resistance rating, but apart from these minor differences, the two are
quite similar.
OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8
To justify its leap to
truly premium price segment, OnePlus worked on improving the display on its
phones. The 7 Pro (Review) was the first curved-display phone from the company,
and this year, both of the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 have curved AMOLED
screens with high-refresh-rate. OnePlus 8 Pro has a 2k display with 10-bit
colors and 120Hz refresh rate. This is a gorgeous HDR10+ compliant screen that
currently has the best specs on paper. OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are both powered by
Snapdragon 865 octa-core chipset paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage.
The Pro variant wireless charging, and IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
Motorola Edge+ and Moto Edge
Motorola Edge+ and
Motorola Edge are solid phones powered by Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765G,
respectively. Both phones have the same 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with curved
side edges and an in-display camera. Only the Plus variant gets HDR10+
compliance, though. The Edge+ is more powerful and better of the two and has a
108MP main camera with 6K recording, but it’s also almost twice as expensive.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro
Huawei Mate 30 Pro is
the first mainstream Huawei phone to launch without Google apps out of the box.
It’s still pretty easy to sideload Google apps on the phone and Google has also
pitched in to ensure that its services run fine on the handset. The Mate 30 Pro
has what is now being popularly being referred to as waterfall display. As the
name suggests, the display folds steeply and forms the side edges. The Mate 30
Pro is of course loaded with cool technology and is powered by Kirin 990 octa-core chipset. The handset has triple rear
cameras and can shoot whopping 7680fps slow-motion videos!
Vivo X50 PRO
Vivo X50 Pro comes
with a 6.56-inch curved AMOLED display with 90Hz high refresh rate support. The
dual-SIM handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor. The
result is a phone that's truly premium not only in appearance but also in how
it feels in your hands. Vivo has done successfully with the X50 Pro is to give
birth to a design that looks more refined.
