With India amongst six countries that accounted for half of the top 50k malicious IP addresses providing further evidence of rising cybercrime, local organizations are seeking greater endpoint protection

OpenText (NASDAQ: OTEX) announces the launch of the award-winning Carbonite Endpoint backup solution in India, with the added option for businesses to securely backup their data into a local vault to meet data sovereignty requirements. Carbonite Endpoint also provides businesses a cost-effective way to meet the demands of a distributed workforce without impacting bandwidth performance.

It expands the portfolio of disaster recovery (DR), server, backup and migration solutions allowing users to receive continuous access to data & critical assets with endless protection and uptime.

Carbonite + Webroot, OpenText companies, are leading providers of data protection and cybersecurity, helping organisations around the globe bolster their cyber resilience as a means to withstand and quickly recover from cyberattacks and data loss.

Carbonite has serviced partners and customers in the region for over 10 years, acting as a valuable solutions provider in helping business migrate workloads in real-time and meet DR requirements driven by demanding SLAs for both cloud or on-premises environments. The acceleration of digital transformation following the pandemic and rapid changes to a ‘work-from-anywhere’ business policy are not the only drivers. Recent key compliance changes related to GST and the Digital India Initiative have caused a record increase in IT adoption and data consumption on endpoint devices.

The Ericsson Mobility report[1] named India as the second largest consumer of Internet, which inevitably attracts a substantial increase in ransomware and other internet-related cyberattacks.

Key findings taken from the 2021 Webroot BrightCloud Threat Report showed 6 countries including India accounted for half of the top 50k malicious IP addresses used largely for Windows exploits, spam, scanners and botnet. Although the average number of malicious IPs decreased globally from 2020 to 2021, India saw a 28% YoY increase from 6.65% to 8.5% malicious IP convictions.

The launch of the vault in India marks the third vault in the APAC region, followed by Australia and Singapore. In APAC, Carbonite’s channel spans across 14 countries and more than 2,000 managed service providers. Moving forward, Carbonite, coupled with Webroot security offerings, will look to expand its channel and MSP community and network with a particular focus in Australia and India.
