Extreme IX, a carrier and data centre neutral Internet Exchange, added 2 new Points of Presence (PoP) in the Janakpuri and Gurugram region of Delhi-NCR recently. These PoPs will play a pivotal role in exchanging over 200 Gbs of data per second and will act as an enabler for local Internet Service Providers to extend faster and more affordable internet service to customers while also localising content.
Understanding and addressing the increasing demand of the lightning-fast internet and growing data consumption, Extreme IX has been aggressively working towards multiplying its Points of Presence to cater to the projected requirements.
With the launch of these new Points of Presence, Extreme IX currently has 4 operational units in Netmagic DC Noida, Webwerks DC Noida, Sify DC Gurgaon and an Independent POP in Janakpuri
Currently operating through around 30 PoPs in 9 cities across India, Extreme has very quickly built India's largest and most efficient Internet eXchange (IX) presence, creating an ecosystem for the Indian web industry and furthering its vision of achieving total democratisation of the internet. Extreme IX's long term objective is to cover the entire length and breadth of the country, thereby localizing content accessible for everyone. In addition to its operational base in Delhi-NCR, Extreme IX is also present at multiple locations in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
